About Me

Hi I’m Justin,

My journey into photography began in the mid 90’s after leaving the Defence Force. Once spellbound, I decided to learn the industry formally. Completing a degree in photography through James Cook University in Townsville. I studied a Bachelor of Visual Arts, majoring in ‘Photography’. This was done during the transition between film and digital.

Whilst studying I worked part time for an independent newspaper as well as an assistant for John De Rooy, a renowned wedding a portrait photographer in North Queensland. He mentored and upskilled me under his tutelage.

I spent an additional year of ‘Honours’ specialising in individual inspired figure photography. This culminated in a solo exhibition of nude form portraits. This same year I became an active photographer for John De Rooy’s taking on weddings and commercial work as a primary shooter.

I have been fortunate to work for some of the best studios in different regional cities. Between 2001 and 2009 I had the privilege of working for INFOCUS the premier studio. A true inspiration working for Michael McRostie.

I have accomplished hundreds of events, ceremonies, portraits and a wide variety of commercial work, and pride myself on consistent and high standard of imagery for clients.

I love the artistic side so I am always up for something new and challenging. I am always learning and expanding my repertoire. The only limitation is your imagination.

I welcome you to join on this creative journey, I look forward to meeting you and capturing your special ‘Moments in Light’.
